About Us
Graduated in the year 1995, three civil engineers were desperate to do something different so that Civil Engineers will get respect in the Society they deserve . It was a time when Civil Engineering in India was being considered at its lowest level. Hence, these three Engineers decided to start a company which will use latest technology to optimize the Civil Engineering projects. Accurate field information is vital for precise planning of civil engineering infrastructure, so surveying and mapping was selected as the target area. Initial projects were started with traditional technology like Plane Table Survey, Dumpy level and Vernier Theodolite. But, the hunger for something different was not satisfied.
The first project by using modern technology like Total station was executed way back in 1999, it was for mapping of slope stability of overburden dumps for WCL (Western Coalfields Limited). After that there was no looking back. imaGIS was the first company in central India to procure Total Station Theodolite along with state of art supporting hardware and software.
Then came the era of DGPS, Remote Sensing and Satellite Mapping. The desire to explore the technologies led us to Dept Of Space, ISRO ‘s Regional Remote Sensing Centre Nagpur where, imaGIS came to know about Satellite mapping. imaGIS feels proud to state that it was the first private company in India to order 1m Panchromatic IKONOS satellite image for Property Tax mapping of Bhadrawati Municipal ~corporation~Council in the year 2001. After that realizing the potential of Satellite mapping our Director Rohit Mane pursued and completed his PhD in Satellite mapping technology from VNIT Nagpur in year 2009.
imaGIS’s mile stone work includes the Topographic mapping of Ulhas river flood in 45 days after the disastrous flood in Mumbai on 26th July 2006 using the Satellite Image, DGPS and Total Station technology. Preparation of Integrated Master Plan of Venna, Bagh, Ghadhvi, Khobragadi, Indrawati and Pranhita river basins measuring more than 18000 sqkm area was one of the most prestigious works imaGIS has executed for Water Resources Department of Maharashtra.
Similarly, imaGIS has been exploring other areas using Differential GPS such as Highway mapping and designs, Irrigation planning, designing and estimation and Disaster Management studies. One potential area where imaGIS entered lately is Seismic Studies. Director Sandeep Shirkhedkar completed his PhD in Seismic Engineering in 2013, the study involved generation of seismic zonation map of India. His PhD opened new avenues for imaGIS especially related to Site Specific Seismic studies, Earthquake source fault and proximity studies and Ground acceleration studies.
For imaGIS, Hydrology was always been one of the major areas of interest. imaGIS has executed Area drainage studies, flood plain analysis for many large projects like Power plants, mines and large Industrial estates. Completion of Doctoral research in Hydrology by Director Sarang Paranjpe is helping imaGIS to address water resource optimization studies.
Recently, imaGIS was given a responsibility of mapping, design and DPR preparation of interlinking of Godavari and Krishna River. This 237 km prestigious link encompasses 60m long tunnel followed by 18 rows of 5m diameter MS pipes transferring 250TMC of water annually. The projected cost of the river link is USD 75 Billion.
imaGIS has experience of working in all parts of India and also in many international projects in Bangladesh, Dubai, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Kuwait, Nigeria and Srilanka. Team imaGIS is very much experienced to use the latest UAV Drone and LiDAR based equipments. Recently imaGIS executed Laser based LCMS Network survey Vehicle health mapping of National Highway from Nagpur to Talegaon covering a length of 91km.
To sum up , imaGIS is a group of three technocrats and a team of 60 Engineers and Surveyors who have an ever increasing passion of using newer technology for data capture and conversion of the data into useful and efficient designs.
imaGIS feels proud to introduce itself as one of the first companies in central India to:
- Work with the latest millimeter accuracy Satellite based Differential Global Positioning Systems, and Total Station Theodolite.
- We have expertise in handling high resolution IKONOS, Quickbird and GEOEYE, CARTOSAT satellite data.
- Use UAV Drone for Civil Engineering applications
- Use Laser based LCMS-2 system for study of pavement stress and Inventory survey
With this state of the art digital technology, we did impossible tasks in record time. Like
- In April 2006, we successfully completed the prestigious project of mapping of High Flood level of the Ulhas river in Thane District in a record time of sixty days. This river, was responsible for the flood mayhem of 26 July 2005 in Mumbai. The work was completed using a perfect combination of high resolution Quickbird and Cartosat satellite data, the DGPS and total station technology, for which we got the “CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE” from the prestigious Maharashtra Engineering Research Institute, Nasik.
- Recently, we completed the prestigious project of Interlinking of river viz. linking the Godawari river from Janampeta in Telangana to Nagarjun Sagar dam in Andhrapradesh via 267km long lift + gravity based piped conveyer system. The link involved initial lift via 63 km long tunnel and balance gravity link of 204 km long consisting of 16 rows of 5.0m dia MS gravity pipes with a projected outlay of 70 billion USD.
- Prepared Integrated Master Plan of six river basins in Maharashtra having an area of more than 20000 sqkm.
